Secondary prevention after coronary artery bypass graft surgery

Coronary artery bypass surgery is a most proven and reliable method of treatment of coronary artery disease. However, patients after surgical revascularization are still at risk of recurrent ischemic events. This requires adequate secondary prevention. Review of the current guidelines for secondary prevention after coronary artery bypass grafting is provided in this article. The information about antiplatelet and lipid-lowering therapy, management of patients with hypertension, prior myocardial infarction and left ventricular dysfunction, cardiac rehabilitation after surgical revascularization is included in detail.
