Ischemic mitral regurgitation: current state of the problem

In this article review of literature on the topic of ischemic mitral regurgitation is presented. The mechanisms of ischemic mitral regurgitation, prognostic significance, diagnostic strategies and management are discussed. The role of echocardiography in the assessment of mechanism of ischemic mitral regurgitation and management is analysed. Unsolved issues of treatment strategies are presented.
