A successful case of left ventricular diverticulum resection in a 4-year child is shown. Frequency of its occurrence is 0.05 % among all congenital heart defects. Feature flaws that most patients with diverticulum remain asymptomatic during long period of time. Some patients may have complications, such as systemic embolism, rupture of the diverticulum or cardiac arrhythmia, possibly leading to sudden death. High risk of these complications is an absolute indication for resection of left ventricular diverticulum, even in asymptomatic patients.
Key words: left ventricular diverticulum, aneurysm, congenital heart disease.
