Echocardiographic methods for assessment of left ventricular systolic function and functional capacity in patients with severe mitral regurgitation

      Contemporary echocardiographic methods for assessment of left ventricular systolic function and functional capacity in patients with severe mitral regurgitation are reviewed. The benefits and disadvantages of every method are compared. The results of main studies in which follow-up assessment of left ventricular systolic function was performed after mitral valve repair due to severe mitral regurgitation are provided.
