Diagnosis of atrioventricular block. Indications for cardiac pacing

Thelectureconsiders contemporary ECG diagnosis and management of patients withatrioventricular (AV) block, indications for permanent cardiac pacing. AV conduction disturbances are classified dependingonthesustainability, grade and level of the involvement of the cardiac conduction system. The basis for diagnosis of AV block is ECG, if necessary – ambulatory ECG monitoring and electrophysiological study. Permanent cardiac pacing is a most effective treatment of patients with severe AV block. Management of patients with AV block has peculiar features in some diseases and conditions, i.e. in myocardial infarction, congenital heart diseases, after cardiac surgery and in pregnant women.
