Myocardial reperfusion injury

In this article modern data about myocardial reperfusion injury are presented. The definition of this syndrome is given, the pathophysiology, clinical data and diagnosis are described in detail. New therapeutic options for myocardial reperfusion injury are presented. The data regarding influence of pre- and postconditioning, inhibition of mitochondrial permeability transition pore opening, hypothermia, metabolic cardioprotection on myocardial reperfusion injury are discussed.
